Frosh Football Four and Oh!

SEPTEMBER 19 – ORADELL, NJ – The Freshman Football Team continued their winning ways, improving to 4-0 with a 27-7 victory over St. Peter's Prep on Saturday morning.
After the teams traded short offensive series, punting the ball back and forth, quarterback Michael  Martino threw a beautiful 41-yard touchdown pass, hitting Nakai Booker in stride on a post route.  The PAT was missed and BC had a 6-0 lead.
With the Marauders driving, linebacker Michael Martino sacked the Prep QB at the BC 25, setting up a 2nd and 14 with 4 minutes remaining in the half.  After an alley-oop completion into the Crusader red zone, a bad snap, caused by an inside blitz sailed over the Prep's signal caller's head.  Michael Martino wanted it more, and appeared to scoop the ball and continue to sprint toward the end zone, but the referee called him down by contact, making it BC ball at the 23-yard line.
The Marauders intercepted and on the following play, connected on a 38-yard touchdown pass along the sideline.  After connecting on the extra point, the Marauders led 7-6.
BC made one more drive at the end of the half, moving the ball to the red zone.  Strong running by Bryce Crawford and Peter DiBlasi and an apparent TD run by Martino, that was called back put BC just outside the red zone.  That is when QB Michael Martino connected with Cody Henderson to move inside the red zone for a chance to score.  The  Field Goal Attempt was wide, but BC's offense was feeling confidence they could move the ball effectively against the Prep
The second half was all BC.  On SPP's first drive, LB Michael Martino made a stellar, one-handed interception in the flat, giving BC the ball at the BC 42-yard line.  Bryce Crawford rambled for 20 yards and a couple of plays later, he took a screen pass from Martino 36 yards for a touchdown.  The Crusaders chose to attempt the two-point conversion and Martino rolled to his right, hitting a wide open Jaazaiah Lawrence to go up 14-7.
Michael Pisani and Mason Baitala chased the Marauder returner back to the 12-yard line on the ensuing kickoff, putting real pressure on a team on the rocks.  Nico Santoli sniffed out a screen pass on second down, tackling the ball carrier for a two-yard loss, setting up third and long for St. Peter's.  Defensive end Peter DiBlasi then sacked the Prep QB for a 10-yard loss, moving the ball back to the Prep 1-yard line.
BC took over the ball at the 36-yard line after a sub-par punt and on first down QB Michael Martino bootlegged around left end, weaving through the defense and carrying the ball 35 yards to the 1-yard line.  Nico Santoli took the ball from there, running off strong blocking by Frank Boguski and Jake Sadaka on the left side of the line.
The front-four of BC's defense was starting to wear on the Prep offense.  It was apparent as Frank Boguski, Carrigh Rutledge and Cody Henderson collapsed the line on the QB.
The Crusaders put the final nail in the Prep coffin when QB Luciano Tarone threw a high pass into the end zone on fourth and long from the 26-yard line.  Aquan Moses, Jr. went up strong and hauled in the final score.
