Crusaders Defeat #4 Don Bosco Prep in Baseball Division Opener

Muggeo's nine notch #200 for skipper

4/6/2026 11:30:00 AM

APRIL 6 – RAMSEY, NJ – The Crusaders opened with three runs in the first and another three in the second and Joe Gugliotta threw a pair of shutout innings to put BC in command to open the 2026 BNC United Season at Don Bosco Prep.
Jael Santos homered and drove in four runs as he continued driving the ball hard in his first varsity season at BC.  Aquiles Hache had a pair of doubles, scored two runs and drove one in and Michael Alberto went 3-for-4 as the two switched places in the line-up.  Early results suggest that was a great move!
The win snapped a three-game skid against the #4-ranked Ironmen, dating back to May, 2023.
Gugliotta earned the win, yielding only two earned runs while striking out 5 over three and a third.  Joaquin Rivera finished things  up striking out five in three and two-thirds.

The win was Coach Bob Muggeo's 200th at the helm of the BC nine.  Muggeo started coaching the Crusaders in 2015 and in that time has never had a losing record.  His teams have reached the 20-win plateau 5 times in that span and with yesterday's win, his record improves to 200-76, an impressive .725 winning percentage. The tenth coach in BC history, he is now just the second to have won 200 or more games, trailing only BC Hall of Famer Al Barton by just 30 wins.
