APRIL 21 – ALLENDALE, NJ – Coming on the heels of a surprising 7-6 Gibbs Division victory over Don Bosco Prep on Saturday, the Highlanders were hoping to pull off the same magic against division rival, BC on Tuesday. BC's
Brett Finetto had other ideas. The transfer recorded a pair of goals and two assists to help BC pull away for a 9-3 victory over Northern Highlands.
Every game has significance with regard to league play, but this was a key victory on the eve of the Bergen County Coaches Association Tournament seeding meeting. After a home-town 2-1 lead, the Crusaders battled back, tying the score at 3 at the half. From that point forward the defense and goalie,
Lucas Bucher were impenetrable as Highlands was able to generate only 3 fourth period shots.
Finetto found
Jack Gonzalez to get BC on the board, cutting the Highlands lead in half at the end of the first quarter.
Alexander Chang (4 assists) found Finetto, who knotted the score at two early in the second.
Liam Ericksen converted a Chang pass to tie the score on an extra-man opportunity with 6:15 remaining in the half. That marker signaled the end of any NH offense.
Trey Taromina scored the first of his two goals, giving BC their first lead and one that would hold up for the remainder of the afternoon.
Alexander Tsay was critical to the team's success, winning 75% of the face offs and scooping a team-high 8 ground balls.
