MARCH 25 – BLAIRSTOWN, NJ – Was the drive by Blairstown Pet Cemetery scary? Maybe not, but BC had a first quarter that was a little unsettling against the Buccaneers.
Luke Stein recorded a hat trick and
Jack Gonzalez pitched in his second straight five-point effort as the Crusaders came back with four, fourth quarter goals to defeat Blair Academy on their home turf. BC is 2-0 on the young season. Nick Walleck and
Trey Taromina led BC with 4 ground balls apiece.
QUITE A BREAK! The Crusaders and Buccaneers haven't played since 1999. BC won 4 of the 5 early battles which were scrums on mud fields. The three games in 1995, 1996, 1998 were all played just before BC converted Crusader Stadium over to field turf and the 1999 game was played on mud in Blairstown. It's not surprising when you look at some of the scores! Early averages were 3.5 points per game for BC and 3.0 points per game for Blair. Did we mention one of those games went to double-overtime! Certainly they were a bit more laborious to watch than Wednesday's 11-10 thriller.
