March 20 – Allentown, PA – Coach Feaster gave his team of his old college stomping grounds. The grounds where he set multiple school lacrosse faceoff and ground ball records and earned NCAA Division III National Defensive Player of the Year twice on the gridiron. Friday, it was his players who would be executing at Muhlenberg College, also the alma mater of our principal, Mr. McElhinney.
As usually occurs on opening day, opening quarters are times where jitters work themselves out. Finally, with 1:50 remaining in the first, Liam Erickson scored the first goal of the Crusaders 2026 season, unassisted.
That was all the warming up, BC needed.
Trey Taromina scored a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the second and
Jack Gonzalez, assisted by
Dylan Usatine scored halfway through the period. Erickson wasn't finished however, scoring three of BC's next four goals in the remaining 2:52 of the half with a
Dylan Usatine ripper coming at the 1:03 mark.
Erickson and Taromina each finished with 5 goals and
Jack Gonzalez had 5 points on a pair of goals and three assists. Face off specialist
Alexander Tsay led BC with 6 ground balls, winning 13 of 15 draws.
Lucas Bucher earned the victory in goal, saving 5 shots and allowing 2 goals.
OPENING DAY NOTES: The victory was the earliest opening day victory in school history and improves BC's opening day record to 17-14 overall (.548). It was the second most goals scored by the Crusaders in their opener (16) which they have done 5 times. The only higher score was 17 goals at home against St. Joseph Collegiate Institute. The game marked the third time the Crusaders played on the road out-of-state to start the season. The first time was in Coach Feaster's senior year when BC defeated Santa Ana Foothill High School at Irvine HS in southern California. That was a 14-8 victory. The following year, BC opened in North Carolina vs. Cardinal Gibbons, falling to the "green" Crusaders 12-5.
