OCTOBER 19 – ORADELL, NJ – The JV Football Team faced Delbarton on Monday afternoon and played the Green Wave right down to the wire, ultimately succumbing 21-14.
Down 7-0, freshman running back Gavin Anderson took short pass in the flat from classmate QB Jonathan Lee Nagapan 54 yards from the BC 22 to the Delbarton 18 yard-line.
Three plays later, Anderson was in the end zone after some fierce blocking from Shaylen Christian, Cameron Graham, Giuseppe LaRosa, Dominick Ginestra and Anthony Randesi.
The Crusader defense held up and forced a turnover on downs, as they took possession in the second quarter. On second and four from the BC 19, Anderson struck again. This time it was an 81-yard touchdown sprint.
For the second-straight attempt after TD, Giuseppe LaRosa provided a perfect snap, it was placed by holder Amare Roy and kicked through the uprights by Connor Coyne.
The Green Wave tied the score with just seconds to go in the half and the two teams played scorelessly until 21 seconds remaining in the game. At that point, the Green Wave made the critical play, scoring on a red-zone TD run and finishing with a PAT.
BC attempted to come back, even with short time remaining, but were ultimately stopped at the Delbarton 30-yard line as time expired.
