JANUARY 9 – CLOVIS, CA – Freshman Lucas Reeves started things off for the Crusaders, earning the first win of the Doc Buchanan Tournament on the Campus of Clovis High School in the Central Valley of California.  It was the first of 10 victories BC grapplers would earn in the championship bracket in arguably one of the top three HS wrestling events in the country.  BC has already wrestled in a similar tournament, The Beast of the East, last month at the University of Delaware.
     Three NJ schools are participating at the Doc B, but there are wrestlers from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington.  While you may think BC travelled the farthest (2,919 miles, 27 miles farther than Delbarton School), St. Peter's Prep actually traveled 2,920 miles (if you believe MapQuest).  Personally, I now have my doubts.  That said, we were all beaten by a couple of hundred miles by...drumroll please... SOUTH ANCHORAGE HIGH SCHOOL home of the Wolverines from Anchorage, Alaska.
     Reeves's victory was a 4-2 decision over a home-grown Clovis HS wrestler in the round of 64.  18 team members made the trip west and represented the school proudly including Joseph Isoldi, Daniel Washburn, Owen Martin, AJ DiGiovanni and Ralph Barca.  Here's a recap of some of the winning results on Day 1 at the Doc B.
