ORADELL, NJ – The Freshman Football Team played with pride and determination against a fully-manned Seton Hall Prep team and yielded one first quarter score that ultimately decided the game. The final score was 7-0 in favor of the visitors, but there were some moments of brilliance throughout the game from the Crusaders.
- Lu'ay Gjokaj and the defense stuffing the Pirate ball carrier on a critical fourth-and one in the fourth quarter.
- Nathan Wortley "Nate the Great" giving his best Ted "the Stork" Hendricks impersonation, creating havoc all over the field for their offense.
- Defensive backs Errol Natto, Benjamin Alpui and Austin Bryan defending passes and making critical tackles to force punts and get the defense off the field.
- Michael Tremarco blocking from his slot position and getting some booming punts down the field.
- Dylan Milano giving you everything he has, running the ball and playing outside linebacker. His third-quarter run behind center Dominic Ginestra and the offensive line, as a spinner in the single wing was the play of the day.
And while mistakes were made and everything wasn't always perfect, the play of these Crusaders was inspiring. Watching them reminds you of the fact that the journey is the real victory. The victories are for the fans and for the past. But the brotherhood you join and the struggle together you share with the hopes of being the best is where the value lies. And nobody will hand you anything. And nothing will be given for free. But you must take what is yours and you must earn everything, otherwise it wasn't worth anything to begin with. Always remember: those who stay will be champions!
