FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ – The top-seeded Crusaders faced Cindarella-story and #24 seed, Leonia in the Quarterfinal Round of the Bergen County (BCCA) Tournament at Ramapo HS, late Saturday afternoon.

BC's first most dangerous scoring sequence came when a shot went off a Lion defender creating a corner kick for BC.  Frankie Burns initiated a beautiful play on the corner, beating his man and centering the ball.  James Melia and John Semelsberger made great plays to put shots on the goal, but each was blocked until the flurry of activity was ceased.

In the 58th minute, BC appeared to grab a lead.  They had a free kick, got the rebound and James Melia appeared to score the first goal of the game, but an offsides was called and the teams continued 0-0.  The Crusaders pelted the Leonia goalkeeper with 11 shots on goal to this point in the game and he had a tremendous game, keeping his team competitive, shutting down a talented group of Bergen footballers.

Christian Doolan scored with 1:10 remaining in the game to give BC a 1-0 lead.  His score came off an assist from Frankie Burns, who just seems to always be around big plays that happen on the pitch.  Unfortunately, drama would ensue.  A handball was called against BC off the ensuing kickoff, giving the Lions a free kick from 30 yards out.  The kick sailed just about 1 yard over the goal and BC would be able to run out the clock.

John Coleman played very well in goal, recording two saves and earning his second-straight shutout win in the tournament.
