ORADELL, NJ - Trey Tagliaferri tied a sophomore school record with four touchdown passes on Saturday in BC's 42-7 victory over Delbarton School. And they weren't just touchdown passes. They were a full aerial assault demonstrating his ability to attack long, manage the clock during a two minute drill and throw underneath with pin-point accuracy. Fourteen completions of 20 attempts (a 70% completion percentage) and 332 passing yards tell the tale.
The Crusaders opened the scoring with a 3-yard run from
Najee Calhoun followed by a
Jacob Soltys kick. Soltys would go on to convert five of six PATs and drive four of six kickoffs for touch backs.
The Green Wave struck next with an 80 screen pass, but from that point on, it was all BC an Tagliaferri. He first converted on a 54-yard scoring strike to his top 2025 target to date,
Austin Busso. Then the fireworks really started in the second with an 89 yard bomb to Mr. Big Play,
Bryan Porter.
After most of the quarter of the two teams trading possessions, BC started with the ball on their own 6-yard line. That was when Tagliaferri engineered a flawless one-minute drill, capping the 94-yard drive with a 17-yard strike to Busso for his second TD of the game and sixth of the season.
In the third quarter, Tagliaferri hit a beautiful fade ball as
Anthony Willis found the weakness in Cover 2 to score, putting the Crusaders up 35-7. Calhoun scored his second touchdown of the game with a 5 yard burst. Senior placekicker
Joseph Cabanita drove his attempt perfectly through the uprights and the score capped out at 42-7.
Calhoun ran hard throughout the game, leading BC with 47 yards on 11 carries (4.3 ypc) and two touchdowns.
Senior defensive back
Jordan Thomas recorded two interceptions, making his big day even bigger. The Ohio State commit received his jersey commemorating him making the US Navy All-American Bowl during pregame festivities. Senior linebacker
Dylan Carrick intercepted a pass as well for BC. Earlier in the game senior linebacker
Joshua Cruz, who always seems to be around the ball forced a fumble into the awaiting hands of senior defensive end,
DeAndre Orgill. Cruz recorded one of two BC's sacks on the day along with junior linebacker Nick Mauro.
Jermaine Kinsler recorded 1.5 tackles for a loss to lead BC as all of his line mates contributed with TFLs or partial TFLs of their own.
